A Heritage of Serving Developers

Progress® Telerik® tools have always been about empowering developers to do their best work in less time. Over the past 15 years, we’ve expanded our product portfolio to keep pace with the latest technologies, trends and innovations. As developers’ needs change and evolve, we adapt our offerings accordingly, by both adding new products for new technologies, as well as retiring products that have served their purpose, thus ensuring that we are focused in investing our efforts in the products that provide the most value to you as a developer.

Why is Telerik Platform Being Retired?

The mobility needs of our current and future customers are changing. Mobile technology has also changed and we want to lead with the best technology for our customers. In 2017, Progress strengthened its mobility offerings with the acquisition of Kinvey. Kinvey received the highest score for current offering among all vendors considered in "The Forrester WaveTM" for Mobile Development Platforms, Q4 2016. Also, NativeScript technology provides a strong platform on which to base the mobile apps of today and tomorrow. NativeScript and Kinvey combine to produce a stable, performant, cost-effective, and highly productive mobility platform for JavaScript developers.

On November 10, 2017, Progress announced plans to discontinue Telerik Platform. Progress will focus current and future mobility efforts on NativeScript, Kinvey and Kendo UI for JavaScript developers, and Telerik UI for Xamarin for C#/XAML. Telerik will continue to support Telerik Platform until May 10, 2018.

What Does This Mean to Me?

As of November 10, 2017, feature development for the product has been discontinued. There will be no new features or product updates. Telerik will continue to support customers during a six-month transition period. Telerik will complete the sunsetting process for Telerik Platform on May 10, 2018.

Can I Renew My Subscription to Telerik Platform?

You can renew your Telerik Platform subscription up to May 10, 2018.

What if My Current Subscription Covers Beyond May 10, 2018?

If your current subscription extends past the shutdown date of May 10, 2018, our team will work with you to provide a pro rata refund for the unused portion of your license which extends beyond May 10, 2018. Contact our sales team at Telerik-sales@progress.com to assist you with this process. If you are a Progress OpenEdge customer, please contact your account manager.

What Are My Options?

We hope you upgrade your mobility with us. NativeScript is a free and open source technology that produces cross-platform native apps with JavaScript code. NativeScript also provides a way to reuse up to 80% of your web application code for maximum cost savings. Also, you get the same skills reuse as you would with Telerik Platform. Watch our recent webinar on Telerik Platform: Modernizing One Hybrid App at a Time to learn more.

Kinvey is a leader in Backend-as-a-Service. Kinvey addresses your backend needs like push notifications, offline data storage, data synchronization for occasionally connected devices and the ability to independently develop your frontend and backend systems.

Kendo UI is a leader in web application components. Kendo UI supports JavaScript, JQuery, Angular, VueJS and other common JavaScript frameworks and has 70 essential components for business applications. Make sure to evaluate our Grid, Scheduler and Data Visualization components. We will offer you 50% off the regular price for a license of Kendo UI (with support for jQuery, Angular, React and Vue), with 1 year of updates and lite support. This discount applies to new license purchases for Kendo UI (with support for jQuery, Angular, React and Vue) made on or before December 31, 2017 by the holders of Telerik Platform Subscriptions which are active as of November 10, 2017. This pricing is a one-time courtesy to help you during the Telerik Platform transition. Contact our sales team at Telerik-sales@progress.com to assist you with this process. If you are a Progress OpenEdge customer, please contact your account manager.
